[Sca-cooks] Soapstone

I am coming to this conversation late, and (out of lurking) due to a visit  
to the hospital, but I seem to recall that Pearl's, downtown in Atlanta, 
carried  soapstone and other small rocks for carving.  I can't vouch for the price,  
since it's been quite some time since I ventured down there.  You might  also 
try calling the Japanese arts center, Ichyo, I think.
