[Sca-cooks] Number of times cloth napkins can be used and washed

If I use a napkin once, it may not be very dirty. If I get food on it, then it's dirty.

When I was growing up I spent several months in England with relatives, who all used cloth napkins. If it was clean enough to be reused, I would put the napkin in "my" napkin ring for the next meal. If you don't drop food in your lap or wipe your silverware on it, there may not be vermin attracting substances on the napkin.

But then their homes didn't have mice, roaches, etc.

I don't know that this would work in tropical countries.

In my home we used it, we washed it, and then put it away. I guess my family
is kind o' weird that way.
Why would you put away a dirty napkin?

Why would you wash the napkin after one use? That is not customary even in
the current century in homes where cloth napkins are commonly used.
