Oh, yes. I heard a similar story about Central European food directly
from the mouth of a Laurel/Pelican who had gotten her maunche in food
related arts and was determined to do a feast in some Balkan-related
culture for our Central European event. She was a laurel, she had
pointed out, and didn't need access to my puny collection of Central
European resources; she could do her own research.
*sigh* It was after she had saddled us with a menu including three-color
(sweet) pepper salad, new world bean pottage and lamb kebabs in January
that she had to back out of cooking the feast the Wednesday before the
event-- funeral in her husband's family.
