[Sca-cooks] OOP - Cake Recipe Request?

tips on how one might be able to tell when looking at a recipe in, say, Joy
of Cooking, whether a cake will turn out light and fluffy or heavier and
denser?  It's needed for a mundane birthday party this Sunday.

If you can get your hands on a copy of "The Best Recipe" put out by Cook's
Illustrated, their yellow cake is what I think of when reading your post.
It is somewhere between the sponfy yellow cake mixes and the leaden pound
cakes.
