In Vermont, there's the Dog Team Tavern in Middlebury.

There's the spinning relish wheel they bring to your table (a wheel on a stand with hanging buckets of bean salads, potato salad, macaroni salad, olives, pickles. etc.). Everything is served family style. Sticky buns are served complimentary to every meal. The place is an old 19th century building that served at various times as a mission and teahouse in the 1920s and 1930s, and as a whorehouse earlier than that. Downstairs is chock-a-block in high Victorian knick-knacks and furniture, and teh wall hangings made in Labrador; upstairs, where the bathrooms are, there are empty rooms and I recall in one was a dressmaker's dummy dressed in antique Victorian clothing. The place is supposedly haunted by prostitutes who committed suicide, and it feels damn spooky there.
