Preheat oven to 325F.  Grease and flour 9x5 loaf pan {8-cup}
Have all ingredients at room temperature

Sift twice:  2 cups cake flour
2 tsp Mace
1 tsp Cardamon
=BC tsp salt

Whisk together in a medium bowl:
5 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla


In a large bowl beat until creamy:
8 oz  {2 sticks} butter
Gradually add:
1 cup sugar
beat on high speed until lightened in color and texture, 3 5 minutes.
Slowly add  egg mixture, until light and fluffy, another 3 - 5 minutes.
Add the flour in 3 parts, beating on low speed until smooth.
Scrape the batter into prepared pan, spread evenly.
Bake 60 - 70 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Let cool in pan 10 minutes,  then invert on a cooling rack.

8 to 10 servings
