If feast will be served to the tables, as opposed to as a buffet, we tend to 
serve family style, with each table getting table-sized portions.

Many of our feasts are large, so getting the soup out hot can be a 
challenge.

I've found that it works to have the servers deliver the empty bowls and 
ladles to the tables, then have one or more pair of servers circulate, 
filling the bowls from soup pots on carts.
