I suppose the timing of step 6 depends on the friend...

But I've just placed the air mattress on the ground/tent floor and then
placed a rya rug[1] or a few wool blankets on top. Add one wool
blanket and perhaps another rya on top. Much easier if you must use the
air mattress. My prefered system is:

Step 1. Place 1-3 reindeer hides on ground or tent floor
Step 2. Lie down.
Step 3. Add wool blankets, suitable furs (soft tanned reindeer,
        sheep, whatever), or rya rugs ad libidem.

When sharing with suitable friend(s) remove an appropriate amount of
blankets (etc) until you are ready to actually sleep.
