I don't know how universal this is, but the great Parisian restaurant  
Maxim's comes to mind (as an alternative spelling for a man's name),  
as does Maxime McKendry, whose [French] husband would no doubt be  
fascinated, as possible exceptions, but then they do say they prove  
the rule. Of course, when they say that, the word "prove" means  
"test"...
