[Sca-cooks] Smoked Meats in Northern Europe

There are European maples (members of genus Acer), but no sugar maples. 
Hickory is the only one of these trees strictly of North American origin. 
For the rest, while the genus may be found in the Northern Temperate Zone, 
the species may difer between continents.
