Given these goalposts, I don't see how anything *but* speculation will work. I 
mean, even our known sources for times prior to 1300 are often dated only 
very tentatively. 

Alternatively, someone is planning to unveil with grand fanfare the discovery 
of a 10th century Cornioszh cookbook :-p
