Peter G. Rose who is the author of The Sensible Cook and Matters
of Taste
will be speaking in Dayton, Ohio next month.

Matters of Taste, Food and Drink in Seventeenth-Century Dutch Art and Life
NCR Renaissance Auditorium
Food historian Peter G. Rose, co-author of Matters of Taste, Food and
Drink in Seventeenth-Century Dutch Art and Life, will discuss the
tradition and symbolism of food in Dutch painting. Join us following the
lecture for the rare opportunity to watch an oil painter working on a
still life in the techniques of the Old Masters while you sample
traditional Dutch treats, including cheeses, cookies, coffee and tea.
Fees: $25 members, $30 non-members

In celebration of the 400th anniversary of Rembrandt’s birth, The Dayton
Art Institute presents the American premier of /*REMBRANDT AND THE
GOLDEN AGE OF DUTCH ART: Treasures from the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam*/.
Opens September 24, 2006. Runs until Jan. 7, 2007. The exhibition then
travels to the Phoenix Art Museum in Phoenix, Arizona and the Portland
Art Museum in Portland,
