Bierzo_, Madrid: S. Aguirre, Impresor, 1934. Madrid. p 140 states:
salt murri, a pickling brine. The word is derived from “sal” (salt) + L. 
muria (brine)
and Alonso, Martín. _Enciclopedia del idioma, diccionario histórico y 
moderno de la lengua española (siglos XII al XX): etimológico, 
tecnológico, regional e hispanoamericano_.1994:I:A:275 says:
Latin "muria" (salt liquor, brine).
