Guillaume asked:
<<I was looking at a book of flora and fauna I got at a yard sale
recently and
found that marsh mallows were imported from Europe to North America
at some
point and now can be found growing wild in parts of the country.
Alas, they
do not happen to grow here in Georgia. I was wondering if it might be
possible to persuade someone to send me some. >>>
I can't help with a source. I might be interested in finding one
myself. I was under the impression they weren't or wouldn't grow
here. However, perhaps some of the info in this file might be of
interest:
marshmallows-msg (20K) 3/ 8/07 The original marshmallow treats,
made from
the Marsh Mallow plant.

<<< To go a little further, I know there have been lists compiled of
odd spices
and where to obtain them, but has anyone gone to the trouble of doing so
with other ingredients as well? >>>
I don't have a collected, organized list, however when sources have
been given for unusual ingredients I've often saved those messages in
the Florilegium file dealing with that ingredient.
