Greetings All,

I am working on developing some classes revolving around a
vegetarian theme. This is for a mundane employer, so we’re not talking SCA
constrictions here (hence my OOP in the subject line). One of my ideas is
for a Date Night class (a series we already have running), with a working
title of: “My Date is a Vegetarian and I’m Not!” (w/fish entrée). A friend
of mine that is a vegetarian pointed out to me that to many vegs the smell
of cooking meat is offensive. I have included a tip that cooking techniques
that can minimize this such as poaching or en papillotte can be helpful. I
also suggested buying pre-cooked meats, for example sliced chicken breast
strips to add to an entrée salad.

I am looking for more of that sort of thing, for those of you
that are vegetarians that live with carni/omnivores, what makes life easier
for you? Do you have separate pans to cook in, have certain times of day
when certain things can be cooked in the house? (That can go the other way
as well, I know if you want to cook certain seaweed dishes, I’d rather not
be around myself.)

Don’t get all ‘they can learn to deal with it’ on me, this is specifically
aimed at a Date Night, so we are to assume both parties want to do
everything they can to make the other one happy.

Thank you, any insights you have will be appreciated.

            Christianna (mka Chef Christy)
