Alfalfa is used in herbal remedies. Some multivitamins contain it as it is a
natural source for Vit.A,B,C and K. It's mineral content is calcium,
potassium, magnesium and phosphorus. High in chlorophyll. It is a minor food
source for human and major for grazing critters. All farmers, whether
organic or not need to be careful of what goes into their soil even if the
field is not for food plants.

One of the primary feeds for goats is alfalfa and if a
batch of contaminated feed was given to them they
could become ill or even quite possibly die. At the
least they'd be put off their milking cycle if they
were dairy goats. Should their milking cycle be
affected the farmer could stand to lose a lot of money
if they are selling fluid milk or cheese. Ruminants
have a very complex digestive tract and the slightest
change in diet can cause problems. I'm not sure if
cows or sheep are as sensitive as goats, but a safe
food chain is very important to keep them healthy. A
healthy goat is a happy goat.

Eibhlin, who has a new house with good zoning and Land
enough for 4.25 goats. :)
