Hmm....dunno if this includes spices or not.

Maire's top 10 medieval pantry items
1. wheat kernels
2. salt
3. pepper
4. saffron
5. cinnamon
6. raisins or currants
7. onions
8. almonds
9. wine
10.  a fat source--lard if it fits into the "cool storage" scenario, otherwise, something like olive oil.

  If you could have only 10 pantry items for your medieval pantry what would your top 10 items be?  These are items that would keep in a cool area like onions or dried fruits, or in dry areas such as grains or nuts.
