the difference is actually that the "patent" gold is attached to a backing
sheet, that makes it work almost like a rub on transfer.
it is MUCH easier to handle, doesnt try to fly away, and behaves... but.....
some people just prefer the loose.

you cannot use patent gold on food, as it must be "pressed" or rubbed to get
it off the backing sheet.

so the food 23 k loose can be used for both food and illumination, but is
"loose" not on a backing sheet.

What's the difference between the edible/inedible, that makes the edible
cheaper? Is it thinner? (I'm a cook and sometimes scribe, and am curious as
to whether it's worth buying 2 different types...)
