"Udon", (2006)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0780167/

It's a fun, if somewhat schmaltzy, spoof on food writing, mass media,
inexplicable trends, and trendy foodie posers. After failing to
achieve fame and fortune as a standup comic in New York, our rural
Japanese hero returns home to his estranged, grouchy noodle-artisan
father, only to set in motion a national craze for the ultimate, off-
the-beaten-track, hole-in-the-wall, Japanese Soul Food Experience:
the Udon Pilgrimage.

Along the way, of course, we get to see a great deal of udon being
made, cooked, and eaten. I know I had to get myself a bowl of noodles
while watching this...

Heads do not roll, no garbanzas to speak of, some udon-fu, gratuitous
anime, gratuitous ghosts, gratuitous mild gay stereotyping.

Adamantius-Bob sez check it out...

"S'ils n'ont pas de pain, vous fait-on dire, qu'ils mangent de la
brioche!" / "If there's no bread, you have to say, let them eat cake!"
-- attributed to an unnamed noblewoman by Jean-Jacques Rousseau,
"Confessions", 1782

"Why don't they get new jobs if they're unhappy -- or go on Prozac?"
-- Susan Sheybani, assistant to Bush campaign spokesman Terry
Holt, 07/29/04
