I just checked Symantec's web site, and they say it is a HOAX.  I haven't yet gone to Snopes.com to see what they say yet, but I bet they will also say it is a HOAX (hard for me to do since I view this list only on-line, and already started this response).  Symantec used the exact same wording as was sent out in this message.
