KitchenAid is still being produced, and, for a
relatively mdest sum you can have them "remanufacture"
your old mixer. I do say remanufacture as opposed to
fix so that you are sure of what it involves. It may
take a while AND it will be more expensive than most
new mixers but less than a new KitchenAid. At the end
though, you will have a "brand-new" 25 year old mixer
that is as good as the original.
I am without all the contact info for doing this but I
am sure that with a little research it should be easy
enough to find.
My last job had a mixer that was 35 years old and it
broke down. The company sent a technician by plane;
one that they brought out of retirement because of the
age, to repair it. After doing so they offered us
1000.00 dollars for the old one AND a new model, just
so that they could place the old one in some kind of
company museum. NO DEAL the boss said.
