[Sca-cooks] ants

I have to agree about boric acid here. I have these little sugar ants come
out every spring. They follow the water pipes in through the foundation,
and nothing known to man or beast will fill the holes tightly enough to keep
them out. They seem to enjoy migrating so they don't have a nice big ant
hill for the local wart hogs to wallow in. I once found the beginnings of
an infestation on my dining table under a pile of papers that hadn't been
moved in a while (Tables are flat surfaces. Flat surfaces have a magnetic
effect on loose paper.)

As has been said Boric acid, or what I use which is Borateem, 20 mule team
borax. When I first begin to see them I mix some in a teaspoon of honey and
spread it where I find them most. Pretty soon you have this bunch of ants
bellying up to the bar in crowds. The next day, they are gone and you can
clean up the honey. I put some of the powder in the window openings, and
across the thresholds. I see a very few, but none in my food-stuffs and
those I can see get squished or sprayed with water.
