For cooking and standing I prefer Birkenstocks if you can get them.  They are expensive but once the shoe is broken in it does conform well to your feet.  My only complaint would be that sometimes there is not a lot of side support (I'm coming off a broken leg), but obviously that would depend on the style, and a clog style would give you the support.
