I was pretty sure that bananas are not native to Africa. I did a 
quick look at Wikipedia's article on it just to be sure and found 
that it agrees with what I thought I had remembered. According to the 
article, they originate in Southeast Asia and Australia.

Having said that...

Somebody posted a recipe for a Vietnamese style banana cake that 
looked quite intriguing a few weeks ago. Perhaps that person would 
re-post it for you?
