[Sca-cooks] tree sap

Early man (as in paleolithic man) chewed birch tree sap. Pieces with tooth
marks were found in a lake dig in Switzerland. Sap will still ooze from a
break in a branch and dessicate to chewing consistancy. Continuous usage? Or
does it matter?
If something was in use and goes out of use and comes back, does it count??
There are in Africa cave drawings of men climbing trees to rob hives for
honey, complete with swarms of bees. Brueghel painted hives. (Maybe not
usage much longer, though.)
