Johnnae mentioned:

<<< This reminds me that Ken Albala has a new book coming out on this
topic.
It's titled: Pancake: A Global History.

Amazon in the US is saying October. >>>

Thank you, Johnnae. I think.

I've still got a bunch of info on pancakes which I haven't added to
the pancakes-msg file in the Florilegium, since I've been trying to
set a dividing line between what is and isn't a pancake, a crepe,
etc. Maybe this book will have a good way of organizing things.

Then again, I just bought a bunch of these history of particular
items books. Some of which are still to arrive. I don't *need* to buy
more for a while...

The one I'm currently reading is on coal. From discussions here I
thought the use of coal in Europe mainly started in the 16th century
when, at least in England, the forests were rapidly disappearing. But
apparently coal was burned on a small scale since the Romans and
started being used for industrial uses in the 14th century. And coal
was extremely disliked, especially by the upper class but it was cheap.
