[Sca-cooks] Why *X* and not *Y*?

Both sides of my family are culturally Jewish, but not religious. My 
mother didn't cook pork - she said she thought it tasted funny. 
Clearly there was no habit of cooking and eating pork in the family.

Of course, we ate ham, Canadian bacon, pork sausage, bacon...

Me, i like pork. I've cooked roasts and chops and stew at home - and 
legs for feasts.
