My grandfather, circa Russia, 1901, knocked over a samovar full of
hot water on himself and he told me that his skin just slipped off
like the way we blanche tomatoes for skin removal. It is a wonder he
didn't die.

In the book I posted yesterday about medieval children, it gives
examples of such accidents from the coroners reports. Also children
turning over the kettle of boiling water/food on themselves.
