A cookbook donation made to the University of Pennsylvania
http://www.upenn.edu/pennnews/current/features/0201075.html

"around 15,000 print and manuscript cookbooks from the 17th through the
21st centuries—will come to Penn to join the roughly 3,000 promotional
pamphlets and community cookbooks the Library acquired in 2005."

I thought the final remarks about why Chef Blank donated the collection
to Penn were interesting.

"Blank, who taught classes for Penn for 16 years through the College of
General Studies, says he chose to donate his collection to the
University rather than a culinary school because he wants it to be
appreciated. “Unfortunately,” he says, “culinary schools are besieged by
students who only know what they’ve seen on TV. It used to be new things
would become part of the cuisine. Now it’s total ephemera, here today
and gone tomorrow.”"
