[Sca-cooks] A Knife Problem

Soaking in soapy water- bad for the wood handles (if so equipped); 
cloudy water- bad for reaching in to fish (SHARP)objects out;
other things in sink- knives get banged up and nicked....

Forgive my ignorance, but why is the sink a no-no for knives?  Do you  
mean a sink full of soapy water?
