Oh, yeah, I figure I'm good for about six years after a little bag of
those containing maybe six. If I go for seven years, though, I am
cognizant of a vague, unidentifiable depletion of quality of life.

My mother claimed to have been the victim of an attack of spontaneous
combustion or, more likely, one of those airborne sugar explosions you
sometimes get in candy factories, while snapping a Necco Wafer in half
(because they used to be larger, and maybe it was a Catholic thing,
too) some time around 1924...
I suppose it's better than eating them...
