If you open up your computer you will see what looks like a quarter on the
mother board. You can gently pry up one edge of the battery and it will
come loose. The cost about 4 dollars at your local store that carries
batteries. This will extend the life of your computer. You still might
want to upgrade the old one but now you will have a back up .

That often means you just need a new back-up battery that will keep
the clock on time with the computer is turned off.
