Actually, seriously speaking, considering that the BSA, and even more so the
Eagle Scouts were modeled on the orders of chivalry, and that the BSA was
chartered in 1910, and the Eagle Scouts in 1925, they could actually be
considered the US precursors of our peerage in some ways.  But, yes... At
the very like they could be considered the "mundane equivalent" and there
are definitely reasons why those who were drawn to the values of being an
Eagle Scout would also be drawn to the SCA and to the peerage. :)
