The top 50 mountains in Texas (ie: Ansteorra) are all over 6700 ft.  
The tallest is Guadalupe Peak at 8717 ft.

It also makes a difference if you are talking about the height of the  
mountain as being the height from the base of the mountain to the  
peak or if you mean the altitude of the peak. For instance, some of  
the Himalayas are the world's tallest peaks because they sit on top  
of a high plateau.
