Now, my take on this was exactly opposite to Cailte's, which is pretty 
funny since we live in the same Barony. There are many reasons here to sit 
during the feast but not be eating the feast. The event is generally an 
all day event, with activities, meetings, courts and catching up with 
visiting friends from other groups going on. With the complete inability 
of Crowns to deal with a start time for a feast, you would never know when 
to plan to go away to have dinner. Our feasts are also entertainment, with 
bards, performers, and the occasional ornate presentation of the courses. 
That's why we have site and feast tokens, to determine who gets to eat. 
(Although since most of the cooks around here follow the Stewpot motto 
(Oh, my god, there might not be enough food! make more.) any mistakes 
usually get lost in the shuffle. The whole event is a seamless happening, 
where sometimes some people are eating.
