 From what I have read, the Milne's named Christopher Robin
as such because the initials would be CR Milne in the cricket
batting boxes.  AA Milne thought that would be very proper sounding.
Christopher Milne was born in 1920 and died in 1996. He ended up
estranged from his parents due in part to a marriage that his mother 
didn't approve
of.
Kenneth Grahame's (The Wind in the Willows) son Alastair
committed suicide on a railroad track at the age of 19. His death was 
recorded at the time as an accidental death,
but it was in fact a suicide.
