One of the most important accounts on 16th century Russia was written by

Siegmund von Herberstein. His commentarii (1556), originally written in Latin, then translated into 

German and Italian are online here:

Wikipedia points you to digital facsimiles of different Latin, German, and Italian editions and to 

an English translation, published in 1851-52 (which is also available with books.google).
