The SCA covers Western Europe during the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
Some of the "Viking era" predates the Middle Ages. People who play in
the SCA are not so picky, and certainly don't actively kick people out--
but there is a lot that goes on the SCA which is not in the period under
study.

Quoted from the firt paragraph of the governing documents:
The Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. (SCA, Society) is a nonprofit
educational organization devoted to
study of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Most of its activities take
place in the context of a social structure
adapted from the forms of the European Middle Ages, which allows
participants to take a first-hand look at
various aspects of the life, culture and technology of the times under
study.
