Yes, and many of us have our issues with some of the fringe personae  
and research: for example, have your met a single vampire at Pennsic  
(or other SCA venue) who actually bothered to learn anything about  
actual vampire or other revenant folklore of our period?

There may be some, but I haven't seen one.
