Given this started out as a spice mix thread ... here is a spice mix I use ALL the time
1 part nutmeg
1 part ginger
1 part clove
1 part allspice
1 part cardamom
2 parts cinnamon
I mix it up and funnel it into an old spice jar. I use it pretty much everywhere the book calls for cinnamon, I sprinkle it over toast, cinnamon rolls, shortbread, sugar cookies (or any other cookies), chocolate cake, hot tea, hot cereals (rice, oats, wheat, corn, and many combinations of any or all of the four). I also use it when slow-cooking beef roast.
and the cardamom REALLY makes a difference. Very yummy.
