Uranium.  About 20 years ago, one of the science magazines ran an article on 
the discovery of what appeared to be a prehistoric, naturally occurring 
nuclear reactor in Africa.  Had someone, say Nicholas Flamel (as some 
Hermetic "scholars" think), the fuel would have almost certainly been 
uranium.
