The forbidden fruit has been variously identified as apple,  
pomegranate, etrog (citron), banana, grape, cherry, and by some even  
the cucumber (despite the fact that the cucumber doesn't grow on a  
tree -- but then, neither does the banana, really). I make a Forbidden  
Fruit salad with apples, grapes, cucumbers, pomegranate anils,  
cherries, and using the juice of a lime or lemon to stand in for the  
etrog, which isn't always available.
