I have a number of mail order sources but it's too late
for those to come through before he ships out.
The rush shipping would eat up the savings.
(If you are buying in bulk by mail order, you can save money by buying
in the shell and shelling your own. Look for a dealer that includes
shipping costs. http://www.sunnylandfarms.com/Aboutus.aspx is one.
Sherard plantation is one I have also used.)
I would call around and check local food coop and warehouse prices.
Ask about bulk or wholesale prices.
(I used to buy 25 pound bags of nuts for the savings. They can be frozen.)
Also Sams Club and Costco sell large packages of pecans. 2 pound bags of
shelled nuts
were about 9.00 in the fall.

Good luck

He deploys with the US Navy for 5 months next week, and I'd like to be able to make more to send to him in goody boxes. Paying $10.00 a pound in the local (Norfolk, VA) grocery stores seems to me to be just crazy and I'm hoping to find a less expensive source. Does anyone on this list have a favorite on line vendor for nuts?
