Note that by Tudor times sweet oranges had gotten to Europe. I don't know what the evidence is on how likely "oranges" at that point is to mean sweet vs sour. My Seville orange has produced one orange so far--but then, it's a pretty tiny tree. -- David/Cariadoc www.daviddfriedman.com
