One contestant, Jennifer, got Excaliber. snipped
My challenge is to see what you would have presented. snipped
What would you have made? >>>

Several folks have suggested meat, but I don't see that fitting
"appetizer" unless you move away from the large chunk of beef idea.

I would go with Cheese Goo, Savory Tosted Cheese. I already *know*
that that goes over well with the mundanes. And it can easily be
served with the little plastic appetizer swords in cubes of bread.

To gussy it up some from how Cheese Goo is normally served, add some
of the chopped Asparages or chunks of crisp cooked bacon to it as
mentioned in Digby's original recipe.

Gunthar, you didn't mention whether you were going to allow eating
utensils or not. With the boneless thigh, that might be a bit tricky
using just your fingers. Or at least slippery. While that may add to
the "cheesy" bit, having the judges lose their chicken to the floor
might hurt. So for Icelandic Chicken, I might go with a thigh with
bone or a drumstick to give a handle, rather than boneless.

"the restaurants that are at the
Excaliber that are themed to Excaliber don't look like the cheesy kind."

Maybe. We didn't eat at those. We did go one night to the dinner show.
And yes, definitely cheesy. I was *not* impressed with the food
served. Reminded me mostly of banquet food.
