For the freshmen here, it's instant Ramen Noodles in cups but it's  
also Cup of Soup.
But the big hit is the individual microwave pizza. Suitable for  
breakfast, lunch, supper or 2 am.
His university doesn't allow anything except a microwave in the rooms  
and a very small microwave at that. No coffee makers or hot plates or  
electric skillets
or toaster ovens. (The campus also no longer allows smoking anyplace  
on campus.)

All those precautions and the student on the floor below him still  
managed to set his
microwave and then his room and then the hall on fire in January. No  
injuries - just damage.
Clue number one should have been when you see a fire, pull the fire  
alarm, don't decide that your clothing is more important than the  
lives of your fellow students.

This year he gets a kitchen so he can buy real food. The panini  
machine is off to college.
