suey, put cucumber in my apicius recipe instead of melon, 
add a tad more honey if the cukes seem overly bitter. 
  won't be practically perfectly period in every way, but 
the husband likes it that way too.  i recommend 
quartering, scooping out the seeds, and chunking, then 
using toothpicks.
