There used to be (and presumably still is) a chef from Seattle named Kathy Casey who made a big splash professionally, came and took New York by storm (to the extent of being semi-spoofed in a network TV series, played, I believe, by Mary Beth Hurt), and proceeded to turn the ancient and venerable burger at Maxwell's Plum, the bar and restaurant in which "The Happy Hooker" is largely set, into a triangular patty with a non-edible plastic confetti garnish. That was one of her better ideas...

Apparently New Yorkers, well-known for their ultraconservative failure to embrace trendiness, were underwhelmed, and she went back to the West Coast to become, I believe, a food writer.

Troll doll in the mashed, eh? I kind of like that. Corn Bugles piped with mascarpone on the polenta, I might actually do, but in general, I like nicely-cut ingredients that show themselves off.
