[Sca-cooks] Period Births: Was Coronation Feast

Ooooh, if her documentation is posted anywhere on line I'd LOVE to look at it! I'm researching Italian Renaissance fertility, pregnancy, childbirth and childcare. Many of the recommendations are both comical and either feasible (in the case of what foods are humorally acceptable and their preferred preparation) or completely out of the questions (like avoiding cold water, in favor of a hearty red wine).

To answer the earlier question, I will be giving birth under the supervision of a midwife, but I doubt it will be nearly the same experience. I've asked about whether they have birthing chairs available and while they've heard of them they are not available at the facility I will be giving birth at.

In joyous service,
Raffaella
