Just thought I would mention that the December 2010 issue of Early  
American Life has an article in it on
uncovering the real first Thanksgiving.
Life in Early America: The Truth About Thanksgiving  by Winfield Ross  
on pages 62-66.

(I don't suppose it's too early to talk about Thanksgiving. We seem to  
have gone from Jack-O' Lanterns to decorated Christmas trees in the  
local stores here. )
